Thanks for reading and for the comment Melanie. Your approach to setting goals and arranging accountability would get you into action mode, which is my biggest challenge. Sometimes those wake-up calls, such as the one from Jeannette, are really unsettling, but in a good way.

I can relate to your discomfort in asking for the sale. Recently I've been thinking about that and the courage it takes to "weed out" those who want information, etc. without investing anything. In working as a therapist, I learned a long time ago that people who want things for free aren't really going to benefit from what I have to offer anyway. It's a great time to give up being the "People Pleaser." (Yikes!) :-)

" ... the home gym is serving as a clothing rack."
I'd wager that's what most of them are used for, Janet. LOL!

"I once thought my ideal job would be thinking up great ideas, (if only someone would pay me for that)."
I want that job, too! Or more specifically, I want the job of coming up with blog post titles or what to Tweet on Twitter or what to post on Facebook or what to cook for dinner or ... :)

Allow me to say Jeanette Cates is one smart cookie!

I'm probably one of the guiltiest parties of all regarding staying stuck in the learning mode. Gosh, darn it -- I can't help it! I'm an avid reader and a big fat sponge when it comes to soaking up information. Every new piece of juicy information I discover is like finding buried treasure ...

... and it's also a gigantic TIME SUCKER! ;(

I never make New Year's resolutions. I just don't want to get caught up in that trap of making promises to myself I suspect I most likely won't keep. Know what I mean?

I do, however, set goals for myself and with the right kind of accountability in place, I accomplish the majority of them. Wish I could say I have a perfect track record, but I don't.

This year, regarding my biz goals, I'm planning to get rid of the fear of asking for the sale. I can no longer stand in the shadows and be shy about it. Sure, some of my followers will say goodbye and some will get upset because I won't be offering everything for free anymore .. and that's okay. Working for free doesn't stock my refrigerator or pay my rent or keep the lights on around here!

Love this topic -- very enjoyable and worthwhile reading! :)

I got chills reading this. Your commentary is beautiful in its power and eloquence. I concur absolutely. We all have the power to change the world with small, yet powerful, increments. Well done!

Thanks for your comment and for reading. It does seem paradoxical that taking full responsibility could be liberating, but it's true. I think it also frees us up to consider options and to find more creative ways to make the changes we desire.

I love this! It's an amazing feeling when you accept responsibility for the situation. Even though there may be steps ahead to take to extricate yourself, the simple act of accepting your role is liberating.
